PROTECTION FROM ABUSE (PFA)

A PFA is a civil order that prohibits one party (the defendant) from having contact with, harassing, abusing, stalking, or communicating with the other party (the plaintiff). To receive a PFA, the plaintiff must be a victim of domestic violence or have been abused by a family member, current or former sexual partner or current or former spouse.
